Together is Better
Innovation doesn’t happen in isolation. Founded in 2015, the four Big Data Hubs work closely together as well as forging partnerships across the country and world, to enable real solutions to societal and scientific problems. Our collaborative data science initiatives have made COVID-19 research more accessible, built interdisciplinary working groups in cyberinfrastructure, and fostered data literacy in students of all backgrounds.
We’re in this together.
Where We Are
Each Hub represents the constituents of one of the four Census regions of the United States: Midwest, Northeast, South, and West. Learn more about them here and on their websites.
The Midwest Big Data Innovation Hub (MBDH) is a growing network of partners investing in data and data sciences to address grand challenges for society and science. Anyone is welcome to join these efforts.
The mission of the Northeast Big Data Innovation Hub (Northeast Hub) is to build and strengthen partnerships across industry, academia, nonprofits, and government to address societal and scientific challenges, spur economic development, and accelerate innovation in the national big data ecosystem. Building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community is central to this work. Our network includes collaborators across 9 states representing the most densely populated region of the United States.
Business, research, government, and individuals now create digital data at an unprecedented pace. However, the great challenge is how to harness these large, complex data sets and research findings into economic growth and positive impacts on people and communities. The South Big Data Hub accelerates partnerships among people in business, academia, and government who apply data science and analytics to help solve regional and national challenges. Managed jointly by the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the South Hub serves 16 states and the District of Columbia—from Texas to Delaware—with more than 1000 members from universities, corporations, foundations, and cities committing their support.
The West Big Data Hub’s mission is to build and strengthen strategic partnerships across academia, industry, nonprofits and government – connecting research, education, and practice to harness the data revolution.
